I don't know a lot of programming but that memory usage behavior looks awful lot like a memory leak.
It's even worse using mods like AGOT... Right now, with 20,000 world population, CK3 is using around 21GB of RAM. I have two sub-mods that lower graphics settings and map detail but it doesn't seem to matter. I'll do some more testing, but the RAM bloat is too insane.
There are many settings you can tweak. I was having problems using vulcan and switched to direct x11 or wutever its called. lowering some shadows, turning off some court settings....dunno man. Search google and paradox forums for different tweaks other found out and worked it.
Personally, prior to TnT I could host the game for 20+ people with a set of 20-50 mods (depending on the time), and still only reach about 12 gb ram usage.
Nowadays, I can't host anymore and trying to get past year 200 in a singleplayer game includes a fun 20 gb ram load.
I've tried virtually everything to fix it, I've people monitor my PC testing the game to find the issue. Anything beyond 16gb ram load in a videogame is highly uncommon, even for a spreadsheet with fancy graphics that tracks everything like CK3.
At least in my case, it's very obvious that the game is leaking memory like it's no mans business. Currently and for the past two years, there has and is no viable solution. Paradox has yet to comment on this as well, it seems they're more concerned with making new content rather than fixing their dysfunctional game.
Again. For those of you who don't know. Anything beyond 16gb ram in a videogame is NOT normal. It is NOT supposed to be that way.
Cutting it out further, the game is listed for requiring 8gb ram on recommended settings, but I bet no one who's reading this can finish a game entirely till the end date at 8gb ram. Again, it's not natural. It is bad work on PDX's part.
I have friends who hasn't been impacted at all and run the game at 5-8gb ram throughout 300 years.
It's all to due with Paradox not optimizing their games correctly for the masses, and only for a handful of PC hardware configurations.
I cry.
