Designate Heir Bug

I've designated my new heir in the China place, it doesn't change and it was still with the previous heir. It took away the prestige and influence but it didn't change the heir, and tried it twice with the same result.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

What is your succession via law and titles?

if you have any sort of elective or appointment succession, then you still need to support your chosen heir through the normal means.

If you check your Domicile/Family title, it should show the heir you picked, as that title follows the heir.

The previous character (the father) I played was able to designate the heir I was playing at the time, when I played as the new heir wanting to designating my 4th son, it did not change but the notifications did say new heir change successful or some sort and my prestige and piety were consumed, tested it twice over several reloads.

But over several generations I managed to change onto a new heir with no changes to my succession or anything since the beginning.

So maybe just a specific bug or I was missing something

Sometimes the game will struggle to update properly. I see this alot with elective where my heir wont update despite having overwhelming votes.

I would recommend periodically saving then reloading the game to help it refresh.
