PC Overheating Very Quickly Now(Used to work Fine)
I could Run the game on 5 speed for an hour no problem last time I played. But now the game closes almost immediately from overheating. I have like 300+ hours in the game and this only just started happening. Is anyone else having this issue?

most likely if your PC suddenly overheat, it's hardware issue. When did you last clean your PC?

Well i would start troubleshooting that cpu fan is working, cpu heat sink, remove dust and look that heat sink is securely attached to cpu and look for thermal paste condition between cpu and heat sink.

It is probably do for a clean, but it works with other games still. It's just CK3 that's been doing this. I've never heard the fans whir up so fast, and crash soon after. Even just opening and closing menus.

I have the same issue. PC/GPU (3 months old, rtx 4080) overheats on reduced settings (limited FPS to 60, medium preset, no vsync). No other game in my inventory has any issues on ultra-high (e.g. RedDead2, Witcher 3 4K). It is certainly CK3 or some nVidia driver incompatibility to CK3.

@aDiMuTu good to know its not just me at least.
Same here, game suddenly runs like sh**. Used to run fine on top graphics and 60 fps for hours

Same problem here, started to overheat suddenly. Every other game runs just fine, so the issue is in CK3.

The issue here gentlemen, is the game AND you. Deceptive little game graphics wise. Just some simple pixel animations, right? I think they should use the thing to bench test graphics cards.

It will let you run those 'simple animations' at 144hz, with v-sync, at the highest possible graphics settings with the full suite of bells and whistles for effects - if you let it try. It will make bleeding edge graphics cards hot, laptop cooling fans top out, and try to melt mid range cards if you let it. A few clouds of birds, a marching army or three, wave and sandstorm effects all on the same screen...

Don't need those settings for a simple animated map game. Turn them DOWN. :) You add your aging dusty graphics card that's been pushed to run hot on some other games and... things get warm. I can use my laptop to heat the room if I go with default settings.

@jpcerutti thanks for the tip. I'll try tinkering with that next time,

Me too. RTX 4070 Ti and louder than MS Flight Simulator. It must be a CK3 problem. Guess the devs at Paradox are completely incapable. Probably it is better to get a refund ...

Even turning down to 60 fps wont work in my case (RTX 4070 Ti). What next? Turning down to 5 fps?

It is a map game. There's minimal animation and nothing you need to worry about responding to/seeing/stuttering past. I have mine set to 30FPS.

V-Sync is the biggest load, if you do not already have that disabled, and there's no need to have the bells and whistles for the sandstorms, birds, and waves after you've seen 20 minutes of those unless you want to heat a room. :)

And if it didn't come clear, it's not the gpu that overheats, it's the cpu. Only needs to run CK3 for 10 min, year old pc with rtx4080 and infamous i7-13700 processor.

If a game causes your PCs to overheat its on your hardware. Both CPU and GPU should be cooled down enough that they don't overheat at default clocks (their fans just get louder before they eventually stop boosting). And even if they don't have enough cooling they simply first clock down and only be crashing if clocking down isn't reducing temps (at default BIOS settings).

That sounds like either yall cooling is busted, the game crashing for unrelated reasons or the 13/14th Intel bug having killed your CPU.

EDIT: I would never settle for 30 fps in a game with panning...
