Constant Crashing
game never crashed on my old rig but constantly crashes every 5-10 minutes on my new pc.
Old Rig - Windows 10 I7-9700k RTX3080 32gb ddr4
New Rig - Windows 11 Ryzen 7 9800x3d RTX5080 32gb ddr5

Win 11 does have 'issues' with the game. They had an update that screwed over many games in the fall. If you check the community support forum you can find some possible solutions. Graphics engine choice, holding cores back, registry shennanigans, etc.

This game doesn't like the Windows 11 24H2 version. You can try in the launcher settings to switch from "DirectX 11" to "Vulkan" and see if you get any more crashes. (Worked for me)

DX11 has tradeoffs in games like Witcher 3 (no crashes, worse graphics) but in this game it shouldn't matter. 24H2 sucks.

Sadly vulcan I actually crash faster like within 1-2 minutes into playing rather than 5-10. This is a brand new pc too all drivers installed and all my other games work great sadly ck3 is the only one having issues like this..

Post a crash log from your my documents\paradox interactive\crusader kings 3\crashes\. If no crash log exists, post the last ~50 lines from debug in the general logfiles.

That looks like error.log instead of debug.log but it also looks pretty weird. Um have you previously had mods installed, even if you don't at present? Also what is your game version and MP Checksum (this appears on the bottom right of the Main Menu screen)?

I had mods on my previous computer. But this is a completely brand new PC. I'll post the other log here soon though!

Might as well ask this now - did your Documents folder get copied from your old computer to your new one, be it manually, via your Microsoft account, profile migration tool, whatever means, do you have files in Documents from your old PC?

Yeah I was having all kinds of issues after I got the windows update. At first it was constant crashing then I did a clean install and updated all my drivers. That just made it so the game would freeze and I would literally have to restart my computer to regain control. Eventually(as in a couple days ago) it just started working normally again so I really have no clue what the issue.

That said, because I haven't seen this question asked, have you tried playing on the absolute lowest settings possible? Just to see if that made any difference?

Seems fine. Grab the MP checksum from the main menu just to see if we're dealing with any file corruption (or Kernelmode issues). Assuming that's good here's two things to try:

1. Get rid of the PDX launcher - sometimes it breaks things.
Edit game properties in the launch options section add the following:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings III\binaries\ck3.exe" %command%
(Assuming the game is installed on C: drive, that is, note quotation marks and the space between last " and first %).

2. Rebuild shader cache and terrain cache.
In .\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\ rename folder shadercache to shadercache.bak and terraincache to terraincache.bak

When you relaunch the game be sure to start a fresh run instead of loading a save.
