Yeah First time I've tried to play in a few weeks and game takes about 5 minutes to load. Sometimes it crashes when I hear the music kick in, other times on main menu screen and sometimes it gets as far as the era selection map. The furthest I can get it clicking on the choose/make a character option and it crashes as soon as it gets to 100% on the map loading progress.
No Mods, deleted the CK3 folder in documents, verified file integrity but no dice.

Hey guys

I ended up asking Paradox tech support and going through it with them. However while I *have* got the game working, I don't know if it's a silver bullet to the problem per se, it's what has worked for me. I basically had to delete a load of stuff of my C: drive. Although the game is installed (as most of my Steam games are) on an external HDD, my C drive had got quite full and apparently wasn't going to play ball until I had 20Gb + to play with.

Now I've moved and/or deleted a load of stuff it's working. So yeah, basically check your C: drive and if it's low on space it *might* be worth getting rid of some stuff or moving it if you can.

I will say though that even having done this, it seems to take an age to load in - a good five minutes - but then a few Paradox games seem to for me and while my computer is a bit long in the tooth now, so I'm not expecting miracles, still I feel an i7 and 16Gb ram should load a map game a bit faster - I'm sure it used to, even. Mind you there's that much more dlc for Paradox games now so maybe it's that.

Anyhow tl;dr I got it working for me, but I don't know how much of a "fix" it is in general.
