Stuck at initializing
I've just bought the game and everytime I try to run it, it just stays on the "initializing" for ages. And I can only close it through the task manager.
I have tried literally everything on internet to fix this problem but nothing seems to work. I never had any problem with my other games.
I don't know if I should just suck it up and get a refund, or if I should wait for some miracle..

If you could list some of those things then nobody would have to ask if you tried them.

The most common issue is you need to verify files, the next most common is you need to disable V-Sync, and the third most common is you need to install the game on the C drive.

Asking on the game manufacturers website (Paradox Forums - Crusader Kings III - Tech Support) is your BEST BET for tech support. They will want to know what your OS is, what your specs are, and if you are trying to use any DLC or mods, as will the first question be anywhere you ask to get your issue helped with.

Good Luck.

Great suggestions above. I also find that starting with ‘play’ and then selecting to load a save works better than starting with ‘resume’ from the Steam launcher. Generally goes faster and doesn’t get stuck like you described. Good luck.

On my side, and I too bought the game yesterday, it just takes a long time to initialize(like 2-3 minutes) maybe you just waited not long enough and your game will work.
good luck

i made an exception in the virus scanner and that worked for me.

Thank you all for the replies, I contacted the support and managed to fix it. Still takes quite some time on the initialization but I can finally play without any issues. Cheers !

Could you also maybe tell us what fixed it for other people that come across this problem?

I just had to run the game through its directory file (the ck3.exe). You can find it in the "\binaries" folder. It basically bypasses the Steam launcher and the Paradox launcher. Funny how it is the only thing that made it works, and I didn't even run it as administrator.

edit : Obviously I still had to wait quite a time for the game to get me on the menu but I had no more crashes or freeze happening during the initialization. In any cases, the Paradox support team is very quick to reply so if anyone can't find a fix at least you won't have to wait ages to find a solution.
