The most common issue is you need to verify files, the next most common is you need to disable V-Sync, and the third most common is you need to install the game on the C drive.
Asking on the game manufacturers website (Paradox Forums - Crusader Kings III - Tech Support) is your BEST BET for tech support. They will want to know what your OS is, what your specs are, and if you are trying to use any DLC or mods, as will the first question be anywhere you ask to get your issue helped with.
Good Luck.
good luck
i made an exception in the virus scanner and that worked for me.
(even then it could take a few minutes but for me it was like 15 mins before)
Could you also maybe tell us what fixed it for other people that come across this problem?
I just had to run the game through its directory file (the ck3.exe). You can find it in the "\binaries" folder. It basically bypasses the Steam launcher and the Paradox launcher. Funny how it is the only thing that made it works, and I didn't even run it as administrator.
edit : Obviously I still had to wait quite a time for the game to get me on the menu but I had no more crashes or freeze happening during the initialization. In any cases, the Paradox support team is very quick to reply so if anyone can't find a fix at least you won't have to wait ages to find a solution.
