How much RAM does CK3 use when you are initalizing the game?
I've just received CK3, I'm playing with 16GB of which the game uses 10GB+ to first initialize the game, the tutorial mind you.

No mods, vanilla CK3.

Just wondering if everyone sees this or if this game is poorly optimized for everyone.

If I'm lucky to load the game past initialization ram usage drops down to a healthy 1.5gb.

Loading to main menu 8,2GB, loading a save and playing rises memory usage 10GB.
I have seen in my system a long game session can rise memory usage to 13GB+
I have couple mods (CFP,EPE).

This is the most RAM heavy game I have ever played in my entire life. Most VRAM too. It uses something like 14GB of RAM when I play it (in vanilla) and ~12 gigs of VRAM. It didn't used to be like this a year, or two ago. It's just been increasing over time.

The official requirements are 6GB minimum on PC (more on Mac, less on Linux), according to PCGameBenchmark, but I'm under the impression the official requirements are no longer correct, after all the patches, so you likely need more RAM than the official documentation says, and if you use any mods, that can affect how much RAM it needs, as well. In practice, the game seems to use more RAM the more RAM you've got, at least up to a point. It can run well enough with as few as 8GB (it works on my laptop, anyway, and that's what my laptop has), but I've also seen it utilize over 20GB of RAM of the 32GB on my desktop, too.

It's also one of the games caught up in the 13th\14th gen Intel bug (see https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/is-your-intel-core-i9-13900k-crashing-in-games-your-motherboard-bios-settings-may-be-to-blame-other-high-end-intel-cpus-also-affected ) which affects RAM usage. So, to get around that bug, you might want even more RAM (to compensate for UNDERclocking it).

Later in the game, more baronies get built, more characters on the map. I feel like plagues were introduced as a backdoor way to 'kill off' excess characters (even then those characters are still logged into the history books, dynasty trees, though it's likely less demanding, it still takes up space). I'm not sure how many characters are 'generated' upon taking certain decisions (ex: find tax collectors, recruit physician) but I think they do try to recycle some characters.

It's only going to get worse as more DLC gets loaded, I'm sure.

Just refunded this junk for not loading at all.
I love this game too much to let it go so it’s either forsake several 1000s of hours of gameplay or open my wallet for some new 64gb ram. Honestly paradox might be secretly working for Corsair.
