Any ways to make the game more playable?
From a technical point this game is almost unplayable to me. My pc is not great but it can run most games fine on low settings, however ck3 takes 10 minutes to load and constantly lags and stutters. I understand there is a large amount of characters the game needs to account for but it's still just a map game. I've tried merging mods with iony mod manager but the load times are still awful. Anybody found some solution that don't require buying an SSD? thanks

Buy an SSD. It will change your life.

People really dont understand how technology works, and expect to run new games based on new technologies on stone-aged PCs.

You don't even have a SSD, in 2024?! A 500 GB M2 is like what, 30$? 40$?

Also, why do you even try MODS, when you can't even run properly the base game?! Mods are not optimized, this is applied to any game. Mods are made as additions or modifiers to current game engine files. What is not as design, will not run as designed.

If you can't run the game at start, don't even bother, because when you will grow your empire and there will be a lot more variables involved for your CPU to calculate, your PC will most probably crash.

Stop playing games for a while, get a job, get some money and buy a decent PC. I've seen kids working a few months to get the money required for a decent PC... as an adult, you might not have any excuse for this.

The vast majority of modern games assume you have an SSD. There's no way around this.

He suggested a $30 SSD, not a 1k new rig. Incredible levels of insecurity.

buy more RAM. pop it in. RAM is cheap.

also helps to have 8 processors, but imo it is a RAM issue.

Nothing to do with that. Paradox games hate multicore and would prefer to pump money into their accounts with countless DLCs rather than actually bother optimising anything.

If you can't run the game, don't play the game. Just move on to something else. Want something a lil Old School but STILL FFFFING Great? Medieval Total War 2. Want even more easy and realllllllly old school? Caesar 3. MTW2 you would actually command your armies on the battlefield so...its a cool change of pace.

Duuude. SSD is base today. What is the problem? SSD drives are cheap these days. Cant get 500 gig SSD for 70 bucks?

An SSD isn't the problem here, if the game lags and stutters it means your PC isn't good enough, no way around that without some form of upgrade. I don't have Ck3 on an SSD and I have no issues past the initial load of around 10 mintues, but that's also only because I play Elder Kings 2 with about a dozen other mods, the base game loads quicker. After that first load up, the game runs fine for hours.

This game is HEAVILY based on RAM performance and CPU I believe. MY 32gigs of DDR4 are 80% in use with this game lul

I just bought and loaded the game on my "ok-ish" 2 year old laptop. (16 g ddr 4, i7-12700, RTX 3060 6 g, 1 tb SSD, Win 11, Dell 16 frame).

After dialing in settings, and my first run-in with the hateful Paradox launcher, (is there a way around that, btw?) launch didn't take anywhere near 10 min. More like 3-4 min the first time, when it's building the world, then less than 2 min on subsequent loads.

Anyone with 10 min load times needs to quit typing and start working until they can buy a better rig.

PS, while the game loads and plays fine for me, I deeply suck at it, and get the feeling I will for awhile. ;)

I wonder if we could stop with the condescending bs. You don't know anything about this individual, or their financial/work life. You can make your point about the necessity of a better computer, to play a game that doesn't run well on your current system, without being an ass. Sheesh.

You need to stop typing and learn to read, I have mods loaded, one of which being Elder Kings, which is a total conversion mod that alters the entire world to a significant degree.

I was making a comparison to my game vs the OP, in that he needs a better PC. I also clearly stated that base game loads quicker.

i remember when my ♥♥♥♥ could barely run. if you clicked the screen when the mousewheel was loading your ♥♥♥♥ was gonna crash. problem is the mousewheel also lagged so by the time you noticed it had stalled and you clicked something, it was already too late
