I bought CK3 today - but it takes several minutes just to load into the main menu.
My computer can run modern games such as Starfield, cities skylines 2 and others without problems at high settings. I haven't timed it, but I do know it takes somewhere between two to five minutes.

This is with exactly zero mods active. It's not the first time I boot it up today either. I'm having the worst luck today, because I've tried to start a game, but had to exit out, practically immediately after.

The point is, every time I started it up, it's always taken somewhere between two to five minutes to load into main menu. With ZERO mods.

In my experience, a paradox game is slow the first time it loads, but it tends to be a (lot) faster when you boot it up a second time. Still, with zero mods active and ONLY loading into the main menu, is it normal that it takes so long?

How long does it take for a vanilla or modded game to load into the main menu for you guys? Approximately, because I doubt any of you time it how long it takes before it loads.

Thank you!

It shouldn't take that long, but it IS front loaded.

So having a faster hard drive will matter. As it loads most the game in lists to call from all at the begging.

So it does take longer then the average game, but should be reasonable.

Thanks for the reply, but you kind of resurrect a months old topic. But to answer, that should NOT be the case. We're 2024 not the early two thousands or the nineties. azerty support should be a default thing. Or at the very least, they should permit keys to be altered.

THAT is something that EVERY game worth the name has.

I mean really, name me a few other major titles here you -cannot- change any of the key bindings to something else.

I don't understand the need of key rebinding in this game.
You use buttons 1-5 to control game speed, mouse edge scrolling moves the map and left and right mouse to look character menu. And esc to quit, save and load and that it.

The point is, if I want to change something, I should be able to. I have an azerty keyboard. everybody does in Belgium. Or mostly everyone. I learned how to type on an azerty keyboard.

You can use z s q d or w s a d to go in different directions.

The point is, that rebinding keys should be a default thing. Like how a lot of games nowadays have controller support. That's becoming increasingly more common. So, eventually, it's going to become common enough it's considered something that should 'be there' by default.

Like this.
