Bug Reports: How and Where to Post Them

Filing bug reports can be incredibly helpful for our development team in improving the performance and stability of Crusader Kings III. To help ensure that your bug report goes to the right place and is seen by the right people, we've written a short guide on how (and where) to create and post a bug report.

Before Posting

1. Disable any mods you have enabled, and start a new game to see if the issue persists.
   
2. Check the Known Issues thread! We may already be aware of the issue affecting you and are working on resolving it.
   
3. Search the forum. Other users may be experiencing the same issue, and consolidating reports makes it much easier to tell how widespread an issue is. Check the date of the thread before replying to it! Threads older than 6-8 months are rarely applicable to the current version of the game.

How to Write a Report

These guidelines can be found on our Official Forum,[forum.paradoxplaza.com] but for the sake of convenience they’re included here as well.

Required Information

• Summary - Write a short and concise summary of the issue for your thread title.
  
• Description - For the body of your report, describe the issue in detail. Provide as much information as possible, as this will help the team diagnose and eventually fix the issue.
  
• Steps to Reproduce - Provide step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the problem. Be as granular and specific as you can.
  
• Game Version - Provide us with the Game Version you are currently playing. You can find this in the bottom-right corner of the launcher or at the main menu in-game. (i.e. 1.8.0, 1.9.1)
  
• Platform - What platform did you encounter this issue on? E.g. Windows, Mac, Linux, or Steam Deck.

Additional Information

• Affected Feature - Describe which areas of the game this issue affects. This will help us categorize the issue so that it gets sent to the appropriate developer faster.
  
• Save Game - Only applicable when posting to our official Bug Report board.[forum.paradoxplaza.com] Provide a save file where this issue is present or replicable. This is especially useful for broken event chains.
  
• Other Attachments - Provide any other attachments if possible, such as screenshots or a video clip of the issue.

Please do not report multiple issues in the same post. Make a single post for each issue. If you see that someone has reported what you have come across, add your information as a reply to their thread.

Where to Post Your Report

• Our official Bug Report board.[forum.paradoxplaza.com] This is by far the best way to report bugs, as our QA team actively monitors it and can categorize threads there appropriately.
  
• Our Community Support board here on Steam. This is not actively monitored by QA, but reports posted here are collected and forwarded to them by the Community Team on a weekly basis.
  
• The #pc-feedback channel in our Official Discord server.[discord.gg] Similarly to Steam, this is not actively monitored by QA but is scraped on a weekly basis and forwarded to them.

Remember, reporting bugs is a crucial step in identifying and resolving issues within Crusader Kings III, and your reports can be a significant contribution in the continued development and improvement of the game.
