ironman save disappeared?

Hi, I started a new ironman save a few days ago to play the new Fate of Iberia content.

It has COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED.

I quit the game late on sunday night and went to bed. I went to load it up the next evening and the game loaded an old save from last time I played... in 2020.
From within that game I looked through the load menu and there is no entry for my iron man game, just all my games from 2020.
Not knowing the grave mistake I was making, I then quit that game, closed CK3, re-opened CK3, and tried again.

Current situation is:
- the save is NOT listed in steam cloud (https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp?appid=1158310&index=0)
- there is no such save in ...\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\save games
- there is no such save in ...\Steam\userdata\118611698\1158310\remote\save games
- there is no save in my recycle bin
- there is no file with any remotely similar name (Menendez_867_Ironman) on my computer, if we trust windows search
- because I only found out this was a problem by loading the wrong save, by the time I went to look, last_save.ck3 had already been overwritten with the wrong game. I have no way to know what state it was in before I loaded that game.

I have been able to restore a version of the game from Friday, because that's apparently when OneDrive last synced my documents so I have last_save.ck3 from that day.
I've lost about a generation of progress: 70 years, half of france, a portion of north africa, and 4 rulers towards dynasty of many crowns.

What happened? How did my save just clean disappear? If I didn't have this 3 day old save from onedrive, I literally wouldn't have any evidence that it had ever existed. No error message, no corrupted save file, nothing.

... Is there any way I can get it back?

sigh.

I think I might have worked out what happened.
With the save file from Friday restored, I reached my storage limit for steam cloud saves for CK3 and was unable to make any new cloud saves without first deleting some old ones.
My working theory for what happened to the save is that its total size took me over the limit, so steam just disappeared it?

This exact situation happened to me today. I'm extremely furious I've lost countless hours. I'm literally boiling from anger I'm never home I'm working all the time and all the free time I poured into this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game at nights just vanished into thin air. ♥♥♥♥ CLOUD SAVE LIMIT. Hilarious thing is this is 2 year old report and they still haven't fixed it jesus christ I'm angry right now
