The last 100 years were about the same speed as the first 100 years. The game has already been well optimized at release.
One thing that actually lags since 1.2 is when you raise an army with the military tab open. If this is split in several stacks, the lag doesn't seem to stop until you merged all stacks.
If you open the character finder it lists the total number of characters in the bottom right corner.
It's been a whole lot of fun up until this point. The Mongols just popped and I can't even enjoy wiping them out and replacing them with my dynasty. Just shoddy
On top speed (5) the game isn't playable late-game. When it tries to go that fast, it grinds down into a lagfest. At middle (3) it's very slow. Hence, I have to play at 4, which is slower than what I'd prefer for realm management and perhaps faster than what I'd prefer for wars if there's any micromanagement needed.
Ryzen 5 1600X. Just recently did a Cinebench benchmark and it scored higher than a Ryzen 7 1700X in single core performance. The game barely even uses any of my CPU though. When I check task manager with the game running it only utilizes around 15-20% CPU. I think it's more RAM hungry than anything, maybe it's time I throw another 16 in my machine.
This might make sense. The play through I'm having issues with I started pre character editor patch. So maybe its still using that older code to run my saved game.
