Is Reform the Great Khaganate worth it?
Currently doing a Mongol run and was sorta wondering if its worth it to rush it since iirc it needs to be complete before 1000

I don't think you do have to do it before 1000 CE. I think it's just within 75 years of forming the khaganate.

Is it worth it to rush? Probably not. You lose most of the benefits of being the great khan and, at least when I've done it previously, I've always moved on pretty quickly afterwards (usually by picking a son who's not going to inherit, becoming landless, and creating a new empire), because there's not a whole lot of challenge left, or really much to do, once you're 1,500 counties/2,000 with tributaries. Also, starts getting laggy.

If you are planning on moving on, I'd deliberately sabotage the reformed khaganate, so you have an easier time getting dynasty head back if that matters to you at all. Definitely don't stay nomadic.
Doing this absolutely ruined my run, but the run is basically over at that point anyway.

Okay thank you

Looking at the req it seems kinda like it handicaps you.

It does, though you will have to take the decision eventually. Just be sure to make the most of it until you have to. Granted, if you use the Mongol Onslaught CB wisely, you'll probably end up with a world conquest, or close to it. At that point, the game is pretty much over.

However, if you don't want your empire to fall apart and want to keep going, you'll need to take the decision before time runs out.
