Roll back to old version of game.
An alternative would be to pick your stance, just like you can pick your intent on certain activities, and make the AI always chose something for you.
IE: Travel Stance = Safe means you'll never eat the damn berries, you'll never duel some random dude, you'll never try to fight heretics, etc... You can just get a log of whatever happened, if you care, and read about it later.
But yeah, having massive popups blocking your view every few days is a huge nono.
Close the screen and control the war. It just pops up for a second.
Having one event every 2 days blocking your view while you're trying to play the actual game, just to ask if you want to eat the damn berries this time, or that same performance injury every single one of your 10 vassals in a royal tour seem to have isn't.
Event evey 5 secs that blocks the flow of gameplay.
