House Head taken by weak vassal?
So I am playing a roman campaign and have almost all of Europe - out of nowhere I lost my position as Dynasty/house leader to a random admin vassal in a different kingdom. My empire is feudal. Any idea why this happened or how to undo it? Normally I would just create a cadet branch but I'm so late in the game that I have permanent modifiers on my house that I don't want to lose to some noble upstart.

Well the House Head is inherited to the primary heir, so if this starts in the wrong hands you can only create a cadet branch to take back the reigns for yourself. But you can't technically lose it as long as your line of succession is in order.

The Dynasty Head however is dynamically assigned to the most powerful House Head. So this may sometimes switch to the second strongest candidate. Usually happens after a succession, when the game doesn't calculate military strength properly. Or you lose a large portion of your troops in a war.

In that case you simply needed to wait until you surpass a certain threshold - IIRC you only need 10% more troops than the current head.

This might be a bug (emphasis on 'might be'), someone else mentioned something like this a little while ago, where having an admin house head gives them the house leader position even if they probably shouldn't qualify. Not sure if they ever worked it out or not.

I did some fiddling around and it seems like the issue is when a nation becomes admin it creates a noble house which can only be 'owned' by a house head - so it grabs the one it can since my feudal emperor can't own the noble estate in a different country. I feel like the game should force the owner of the estate to become a cadet branch if the current house head is a more powerful feudal leader.
Annoying...
