How to get rid of unwanted land?

Did a holy war to get rid of an annoying ruler nearby but now I have a TON of land I don't actually want. I tried giving it to people but now I just have like 23 vassals o_o I just wanna be a duke for awhile and vibe in my lil slice of paradise

Can you still donate it to the pope for increased respect from him? That was what folks did in CKII, i'm guessing you can still do it here. I don't go on crusades so not sure, but you can still gift him things so i'm guessing you can gift land?

You cant grant Independence, unless you yourself are independent.

OR you hold the title to which that land belongs, ie, can't give away the county of Malta if you hold the duchy of Sicily.

If you hold the higher de jure title over the land of your vassals. Like the Kingdom title which you probably got in the Holy War, Then you can't grant them independence.
What you can do in that case is to give the Kingdom title away to one of you vassals within that Kingdom. Or if you want to keep the kingdom title, you can trim down the amount of vassals you have by creating duchy titles and giving them away to a count within the duchy de jure.
Alternatively if you hold an empire title, you can give the kingdom title away which would bunch up all those vassals into a single kingdom vassal.

EDIT: Slight correction. You cant give away a Kingdom title if that is your highest and only/primary title. So in your case you should try creating duchy titles and give them to vassals to reduce your vassal amount.
