Having a Vassal as an Adventurer
Actually it seems to be possible to have one vassal as an adventurer aka being a Liege.

It kind of makes sense since the Adventurer Title is Duchy Level, but I guess it's a bug?

What I did:
- Being Legitimists as an Adventurer
- Captured a woman with a claim and made her my concubine
- Pushed the claim of my concubine on the County of Provins (in France, but held by the Holy Roman Empire)
- She became my Vassal while I stayed Adventurer
(I guess it's not necessary that the claim holder needs to be a concubine)

Consequences:
- Sill being an Adventurer
- County of Vassal is Realm Capital (even not holding it)
- Can raise Runestones
- Build buildings for vassal
- it enables to form hybrid cultures (at least one county in your realm)
- When your vassal's counties get occupied in a war you instantly lose (-100% war score)
- The held counties have fog of war
- vassal pays taxes

It also seems that you can't have more than 1 Vassal. When I successfully pushed another claim on a county for my other concubine, I became owner of Provins (county of my first vassal) and lost Adventurer status. When I gave independence to my vassal first and then pushed another claim, still worked. - A Vassal having multiple counties doesn't seem to be an issue as long as it is only one vassal.

Sounds like a bug tbh, they need to change the title from being a duchy imo. In my game even some text referred to my adventuring party with the name, "Duchy." Now I know why.
i would substantially enjoy adventurers being able to create a county title only tributary state. based on your direct vassal limit and fame or something. i got the glitch too and now i just want to expand the land without losing my ironman position

They should have made the Adventurer Titles and Family Head Titles, Barony Tier, like they did it in CK2 with the Patrician Titles.
This would have prevented this Issue, but I guess, the Devs really hate playable Barons.
