When/how is Black Plague triggered?

Is there a time frame during which ussually the plague appears (with “normal” settings)?
It's a random event, is there any condittions that help it to spawn?

Late game, after 1300 historically. There are adjustable settings you can change to adjust that for circumstance & frequency in the game rules.

" spawn_epidemic bubonic_plague (province id) apocalyptic " should work as a debug command if you want one right now but you have to pick what province it starts in.

I prefer playing on random start, makes the game a little more interesting but can easily luck out and get it the second you start.

I play with randomized Black Death and Unlimited. Usually do the 800s start date. I've noticed that I get Black Death in the game within 10 years no matter what. Every. Single. Time. It lasts for 5ish years then goes away and comes back within 10 years. No change. I don't think it is randomized enough.

Thinking of turning off Black Death and just increasing regular plague severity so as to see some variety. Black Death just seems scripted to suck at a certain time no matter what your settings are.
