What? You don't think spending HALF A YEAR for a hunt about 200 km away from your capital is REALISTIC? /s
A horse can make about 6.9km a day just WALKING. Double that by trot, and should be able to keep that up to 32km a day without fatigue... Amazing what google can teach you about horses -)
"An average trail horse in decent shape can withstand a journey of 50 miles (80.5 km) in one day, while a fit endurance competitor will be able to travel even 100 miles (161 km) in a day. On the other hand, most of them can’t endure a few consecutive days of riding without a day or two of rest."
As for sailing....
"How far would a Viking longship travel in a day?
Viking ships - Wikipedia
It was capable of sailing 75 miles (121 km) in one day, and held a crew of about 20–30. Knarrs routinely crossed the North Atlantic in the Viking Age, carrying livestock and goods to and from Greenland and the North Atlantic"
So yeah.. travel times for these events take to bloody long time -)
Baseless response.
This game isn't meant to have an event happen in a realistic timeframe otherwise a feast would be completely over in 1-2 days max.
Besides, if you aren't going to make it in time even with a alternative route, you missed it, better luck next time folks.
Length of a feast and time of travel got nothing to do with each other. A feast, a torunament, and event could take time. Sure, done deal... It's the travel time that doesn't make sense.
There is a difference btween spend half a year to travel to a feast, and to spend time there once you arrive. If you get invited to a party. Do you start walk there 2 months before you need to show up?
