How to trigger the Traveller trait?

I can't get started on the new Traveller trait. Is it because I'm a ruler? I see a lot of wanderers that have the Traveller trait, but I can't seem to get it for my current character.

Is the trait unattainable for rulers or does it require a specific length from journey?

I got it twice from going on pilgrimage as a duke in Poland, once just to Germany and once to Rome. So rulers can get it, it might be distance based or you might just be getting unlocky with RNG.

Thanks. This I seem to have been unlucky and making the travel too safe for myself.

I did riskier and longer travels and got it to fire.

I was playing in Lahore as a muslim, so whenever i did Hajj it took an enourmous amount of time. Just as i was returning to my capital, an event appeared everytime: you've been in travels for one year, so here's your trait.

it seems you need to have traveled a certain amount of time (i think) else it's just during traveling you can get it
