How do I turn off this rubbish new upgrade?
I'm happy enjoying my Iberian game, going great guns and suddenly I get a forced update and I'm stuck with a load of crap never ending activities that prevent me doing other stuff (Like going to war) for months on end with way too many stupid decisions.

I don't want to spend a year travelling at the exclusion of everything else I actually enjoyed doing in the game. This is awful, some folks might enjoy fair play but please tell me there's a way to opt out else I'm gonna have to stop playing the game.

Can't opt out, but all previous versions are available as betas, just switch back to whatever you like.

You don't have to do any of the activities.

Umm yeah you do, unless you're saying I should never go on a hunt or have a feast again to relieve stress/get prestige etc?

Will that work for ironman saves?

I don't know, but I would guess so - as long as you start it on that version. But I have never tried it myself.

You can still do almost all other tasks while traveling...just not lead your army. You can still wage war. Just move the travel/feast/hunt/wedding screen to the side and wait for an event then pull it back over.

Yes, although you probably ruined your current save by launching it in the new version of the game. If you intend to roll your game version back, you should always do it before launching your game in the new version.

It's also generally unwise to launch an old save in a new version of the game anyway; it often leads to bugs.

That's the thing, you can't. It says at an activity already when I try to interact to go to war... and the activities are lasting months, I could live with this new (massive) change if I could do it in parallel as before, I don't get why this is now no longer possible.

No choice with Ironman (That I know of), and had no idea these changes would be so dramatic, I'm just busy playing, not reading release notes etc.

You realize you don't have to travel, It's completely your own choice. When invited, don't go and don't make travel events. You can also disable DLC if you really want as well.

I've been doing just that for 2 days now. The only time I can't get out of a screen so far is during the ceremony after a grand tourney and that only lasts a few days.

If I couldn't move the travel/hunt/feast screen to the side during the waiting times I agree...that would totally ruin the game for me.

Not realty an accurate statement, certain things in the game require you to travel, managing stress or opinions of vassals for example.

Comments like this are frustrating. I don't mind the new format for activities in and of themselves (Not really a fan but get why some folks might like em). But the fundamental game play shift where war is an activity and I can't do two activities at the same time, combined with these new activities taking months or years (Went on an 18 month hunt in my current game ....) is really impacting to the point the game is no longer playable for me.

What I don't understand is how you are getting stuck at an "activity" and can't go to war. That doesn't happen to me.

I was just on a Grand Tour and was attacked. I had the choice of calling off the tour or continuing the tour. I continued the tour and still fought the war.

When I interact with a foreign ruler to use the go to war option it's greyed if I'm on an activity, such as hunt or feast, out saying I'm at an activity already hence I can't do it. You don't have this problem - just me then, some sort of bug?
Reim May 13, 2023 @ 11:10pm
I'd say it's worth reporting it because it does sounds like a bug on your side, sadly.
