You get excommunicated and that's a valid reason for the next king to arrest you. Which leads me to thinking you might be able to get away with it if realm's faith does not have communion.
An important question that should be asked however, is what's the practical point of red wedding? If you're marrying into line of succession but want to get rid of the liege/his sons at the same time the bride would be killed too - kinda defeating the purpose.
So far I can't see any use for it outside of being a bold way to wipe a dynasty you happen to have a feud with. Also, it makes for an erosion of lifestyles, as it allows a diplomacy character to do something only one with high intrigue was previously able to achieve. Similarly, the chance for a successful "hunting accident" now scales off your intrigue AND prowess.
