Dissolution factions
How do I make it so all of my vassals don't form a dissolution faction the moment my ruler dies? There is little to nothing I can do, as even when all of my vassals are at 100 opinion of my ruler they try to kill my next ruler the moment he takes over. Any tips?

I don't think there is a way to fully avoid the forming of factions once a ruler dies. What's actually important is not letting them get to the point where they are able to force their demands.
Some of the opinion of the previous ruler carries over as a temporary buff for the heir, so there's that. Lowering the Crown Authority is another way to improve the relations to your vassals. Also gifting them gold can help. Vassals usually leavy a faction once they get to around 50-70 opinion - I can't recall the exact threshold. If you can, you should always aim for the leader of a faction, since when they leave, the faction disbands and has to reform.

I did all of that, I spent all of my gold on gifts, but the faction still formed. I did almost beat them in a war, but 1 or 2 bad rolls during combat ♥♥♥♥♥♥ me over.

Its becuase opinion is not all, um traits PLAY a big role in if they decide to go against your rule.
If its a content sim they will play without going against your rule.
Everything about this game is not in Wiki or no where to be found.
But i have over 4k hours into this game and i know very well how it functions.

I did have a problem with them liking me all and they still rebel against me but if im not mistaken that was fixed but fixed does not mean it is fully fixed.

To not get killed you need to invest into gaining points in your spy network and having all in your court and vessels liking you.
Other way is by being very dreadful i mean if you are dreadful and honorable combo oh now im starting to rant hehe.

Hf gl if you got any question about ck then just ask.

When you know you are near death you should be setting things up for your heir. Basically these few things are most important.

A war chest (lots of cash). He may need to bribe or hire mercs to deal with any issues he has.
Strong military in his lands he will inherit.
Vassals that are not too powerful that may rise against him, you should be watching this always. He likely needs to get on the good side of these powerful vassals through bribary, putting on the council or murder.
No plots that are already building (these will often pop when he takes over as these people are already at boiling point).

It can still happen that there is a battle or uprising but... this is the whole point of the game. This is what happened consistently throughout history and this is what makes the game fun and a challenge otherwise its a map painter which i guess some people want the game to be. One of the biggest dramatic facets of the game is your rulers passing and then it going to the next person. This is where the greatest story and gameplay moments are made. My amazing pious ruler dies and his chosen son has been killed in battle, and it goes to my 3rd son who is a drunkard and a madman who tortures people for fun. The kingdom will inevitably fall apart during his rule and right minded people will try to kill him but now im going to play this madman and have fun doing it!!!

Sorry for the little speech but im always sad when people seem to get no fun from what is probably the best part of the game.

I was playing along in Byzantium, no problem. Born in the Purple, massive Short Reign reducers, etc.

Got bored, switched to Karlings, made Italia, accumulated Francia and Germania via True Ruler. And it was a massive shtshow on succession due to Court Grandeur bombing on succession.

If the rule made sense, it would be okay... but I still don't understand why my Heir inherits Court Grandeur at his level (inherited from a deceased Kingdom-level spouse) rather than retaining the Court Grandeur of the Empire.

I can deal with underage heirs. I had a warchest.

I just can't fight decades of random independence factions and dissolution factions (every potential Spymaster is -60 malus due to Court Grandeur bombing, so the prison door is a swinging gate). A -60 opinion malus ought to make sense, and Court Grandeur doesn't (like so much of the Royal Court DLC, which seems like it never went through user test at all).

I mean idm my vassals not being happy, but it feels ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that I don't get the chance to get some of them on my side as they all need to have a +70 opinion or be friends/allies with me and since most/all of them rebel I don't have enough time to even befriend one before the war breaks out. I suppose I do still have a larger military than all the split realms and will just have to re-conquer them.

Is there any evidence that 70+ makes them leave?

Just something I noticed.

Ally any vassal you don't want to war with, if there's still some left over, war with them, win the war which automatically makes them a criminal and imprisons them, and revoke their titles.

From the 1.5.1 changelog:

- AI's will now leave factions more quickly when they are pleased with you as their liege
- AI's will no longer press factions for Claimants they like if they also like their current liege a lot, with a decreasing chance at higher opinions (the AI will be less likely to press a claimant they have 80 opinion of if they have 60 opinion of their liege, for example)

I'm sure you could also look at the code, but I don't have the time for that.
