I recommend u buy royal edition in the sale yeah
That said, if you think you'll be playing long term, I'd recommend the Collection that includes all of Royal Edition (Chapter 1) plus all of the Chapter 2 DLCs (Tours and Tournaments in particular is well worth this).
Is tours and tournaments really worth it? because I checked and that's the only dlc that's missing, unless I'm mistaken? Anyway, the royal edition is 44.99 - tours and tournaments is 20.99, so that's still cheaper than that collection.
The reviews on steam aren't very positive for the DLC though, so I'm having second thoughts now. I might stick to the base game first... aarh, why is it so hard to make a decision?
To answer your question on what's missing - The Collection includes Friends and Foes and all of Chapter 2 (Tours and Tournaments, Wards and Wardens, and Legacy of Persia). None of which are in the Royal Edition. It also includes the Elegance of the Empire cosmetic pack - which isn't much of anything - but the only way to get it currently.
The Collection also doesn't get a price reduction for owning part of it (which kinda sucks to be honest). So keep that in mind.
tours and tournaments is the meatiest/best of the bigger dlcs from what i've seen (royal courts is close second, but it's much more situational). i'm personally a fan, especially for late game.
Oops, yes, that was my bad. Sorry 'bout that. Ideally, I would want to spend fifty tops.
I'm asking again though, but are the dlc included in the royal edition worth it as well? I'm watching a couple of review for tournaments, and it does seem to add significant stuff; I'm more of a feature guy though, less so for story packs. Or at least, those have less priority in my mind.
That said, which dlc would you recommend as a 'must have' in order? So the top would have the highest priority and so on. Thanks!
There is no more chapter 2 DLC sadly (I still don't understand why they didn't leave it be that system)
Currently the chapter 3 dlc also includes free clothing, so grab that while you can.
So the chapter 2 Tours and Tournement Wards and Warden legacy of persia.
Bought seperatly isn't really something you should do. unless you can't wait.
But tours and tournement is one of the best DLC currently in all the DLC release.
Since you want Royal Court (more for customising/hybridising your own cultures then the royal court)
Northern Lord for raiding and concubine and overpowered norse.
Royal edition price is really good offer. you are cheaper off then what I paid for it when I started last year :P
No THE CHAPTER 3 is on sale, and it includes a FREE clothing pack, that can't be gotten any way else.. (I still wish they release chapter 2 elegance even for 5 bucks) so it makes people set complete.
That is one of the driving force aside from discount, on the chapter packs.
Sure buying lose DLC, for example only from chapter 2 the tours and tournament alone.
Saves you money cause wards and warden and legacy of persia are not worth it.
But just start off with Royal Edition is the best way to get into the game.
It is now very cheap, and if you don't like the game at all, you can put it aside.
And once you gave the game more time, and love it want to buy more, then do it again at another sale. but if you are completionist, then buying royal edition and chapter 3 on sale is the best bet, and pick up the rest later when they have a REAL pack again. or even cheaper sale.
Tours and Tournament.
You already have 90% of the game you want... since legends of the dead most of the features are free.
if you want legends of the dead, it is better to buy the whole chapter pack.
then you are set for Roads to Power (the major expansion this year) and wandering nobles (probaly going to flop again) but you get atleast comfort the free clothing pack :P
- First play a little to be sure that this is your game.
- If so, then buy DLCs, they make a great game even better.
- Try to buy DLCs in sales, and see if packs make them even cheaper (or better said, less expensive XD). The exception is if you are very hiped by an specif one. For example I bought Tours&Tournaments in the first days because I was REALLY interested in it, and no regret. :)
I think he just want to know how to complete everything, like everybody else does.
When they miss a chapter pack. a lot of steam people are completionist.
So best value is start off with royal edition, you never get left behind cause it is totally complete from without missing even the clothing pack.
Test it out do you like the game or not, then start completing the DLC they want on the best budget.
