Too many counties + overextension penalty
Hi again!
I'm a duke and i can have 6 holdings and i currently own 4, but somehow i got the overextension penalty and i'm told i have too many counties.
I tried giving land to the point i only had 2 holdings but i still got the penalty.
Does someone have an insight to share?

You want to upgrade to kingdom to keep your vasals.
Of course if you really dont care about them or you value another Independent duke that is a member of your dynasty you could give a duchy away.

Dukes have a limit how many counties may be owned in total by you AND your vasals.
And this sounds like you are too big for a duke, which i think is 30 counties. Its not the same as having too many holdings yourself,.

no, because that would make them independent. Dukes can only rule over counts. can you make a Kingdom somewhere ?
As a duke you should not give away a duchy as they will become independent unless you are deliberately weakening yourself for the sake of some other plan (e.g. spreading the dynasty). Create a kingdom instead.
