Raiding as Feudal
Hello reader,

I understand Raiding tends to only be available to either Tribal governments or Feudals that get specific cultural pillarstones.

Does this mean that having the Raider or Reaver personal trait is unable to enable an army to raid if the government structure doesn't otherwise support it? I'm struggling to gain money as a Count through any means other than intrigue.

You need practiced piracy or an unreformed pagan religion to raid. You can blackmail for money with golden obligation, but you can also set your steward to collect taxes and occasionally will get extra taxes if they are skilled enough. Having your spouse on manage domain seems to increase the chance of them being able to do this as well.

Unless you plan on staying a count for some achievement or what not, I recommend getting to Duke so you can extort a Count vassal for decent money. Also, as feudal one of the best ways to make money during war is to not click victory asap during wars. Siege as much as you can before the AI accepts defeat on their own. You can also ransom captured leaders for a lot of money and still win wars as well depending on your war score.

Edit: Also, most importantly; if you have a Spiritual HoF such as Othodox, Catholic, or Zhengyi; to name a few, you can try to befriend/please the HoF. If they like you enough, you can request funds from them every couple of years if you have the piety for the exchange.

Good advice, thank you! I want to get up to being a Duke, but I'm just not sure how - attempting to dethrone the existing one seems to get me pretty firmly put back in my place xD I'm a total novice at this, lots to learn!
