How do I beat the Khan?
I went with Tamar because I wanted to get her achievement, managed to get Daylam, one or two counties remains that I have to take from Rum in order to fully control Armenia

now here comes the khan messing up my plans, tried to kill him and it didn't go well
befriended him but that doesn't do much since he still declares war on me

I have 40k soldiers (including allies) should I swear fealty or should I fight him in rough terrains and hope to win? he has 70K soldiers

p.s: Tamar is 50 btw :[

She wont see 60. Just a friendly heads-up.
I think swearing fealty voids that achievement. I'd try buying truces if you've got that perk (it's the second one down on the left hand side of the architect stewardship tree) but that's 50/50. Could also try the fight; if your troops are a lot better, you've got a pretty significant advantage and/or he's involved in a lot of wars, it could be doable.

How come? is it scripted that she'd die or something?

Sadly no perks, I've got an ok army mainly focused on knights and knights effectiveness I think I have around 200% now? maybe it would be enough

how long does the mongol invasion usually last?

Depends a bit. Temujin gets a special trait (you can see it when you click on him) and then his heirs get a lesser version of it with a chance that it will go away and the Mongol Empire will split going up by 25% per succession. However, if you can beat his army, inflicting a lot of casualties, you can end it significantly sooner because the special troops don't regen (they are inherited) and then generally the empire'll just collapse in on itself.
IF you have crossbows (at least 1 full stack), you can beat the Khan, yea attack an isolated area, such as they have to cross a river, mountains, bridge, etc.

IF you DO NOT have crossbows, fealty can work but..., IF the Khan is attacking your primary titles, you can keep your non-primary titles. He/She will install someone to manage your previous primary titles and you have claims and not very hard to take back, but you will be under the Khans boot. Later, join an independence or dissolution faction

I married her to her historical (second) husband tho :]

Will I lose the truce I have with the mongols if Tamar die?

Ha, that's nothing; just 1 empire title. I rushed it so haven't had to fight them at all (would've struggled; the truce was bought). My biggest war was with the Byzantines for Cyrenaica (needed it to form Greater Armenia). I did my standard thing of marrying a genius lowborn first, taking the legitimacy hit, getting some good kids and now I've married some random high stewardship noble after the first dude died from some random plague.

And yes, the truces are between characters not titles so if either of the signatories die, it's gone. I'd guess you've probably noticed this happening when characters you have truces with die and you're then free to declare war on their heirs.

I lucked out during a level 1 stress break. I think she could make it to 70 with a full investment in the 'whole of body' tree which I didn't do there cos her genius son's better, and not getting any younger, plus I managed to get the achievement while she was in her 40s so wasn't necessary. Could've gotten 'constant care' too, kin legacy 3, but wanted the first blood legacy so got that instead and also haven't gotten lucky with +health artefacts... could probably get to 80 if you really got lucky. Regardless, I've now flipped from the 'please stay alive' option to the 'why won't you die!?' one (in my experience the binary options for how i feel about my characters).
