HUNTING - Broken or Stupid

Excellent Hunt Master whos my friend.
My Skills are excellent for hunting, I started with a 80% chance off the bat, and ended at 80% hunting a wolf.....Fail

Hunt 2....fail
Hunt 3....fail
HUNT 4 FAIL

At this point im a tier 2 hunter....

Hunt 5 Fail.....
RAGE QUIT.


When T&T first came out it was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FINE !
I was having fun hunting, I was getting fun Items like Wolf Fangs, Bear Pelts, I took a Pet Lynx into my court....I had all kinds of neat items.

NOW I CANT EVEN GET A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BLUE QUALITY PELT 90% OF THE TIME.
WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ !

Well, let me tell you, that I have had more, than 5 legendary Hunts with an 80% success chance and they have all failed.

So, there is clearly, something not working as intended, an 80% chance should not always fail.

I have experienced the same thing. Spent almost half a life time hunting a white wolf, but it always eluded me, despite 5 or 6 attempts at 80%

I've never had a legendary hunt so far (I'd say about a hundred hours played since T&T, some spent on AGOT) and I'm currently playing on the canary islands and keep getting events for ducks and hares sightings, but if I try to organize the hunt it tells me there are no hunting grounds on the islands.

So if you look at the hunting spots it will show you if its a good or bad hunting ground once its 3 negatives only I think you cant hunt in that location anymore.

Though ive only ever seen that happen late game or in drylands.

I usually purposely leave a good forest or mountain un developed or atleast Hunting Grounds and Outposts Only for Forest so it gets lots of +'s

As for Leg spawns it seems pretty random. I maxed out hunting and falconing on 1 guy and never got one, then his son at 18 was on his first hunt of a Wolf Sighting and Boom, White Wolf sighted.

I've never seen hunting ground being "exhausted" either, but this situation with the canaries is different, I never got to hunt there. It would seem the counties are not suitable, which makes sense being small islands.
It's the sightings that don't seem to check if the place they happen in is actually available to hunt at.

As for the legendary yeah, I guess I just had bad luck tho it seems a bit weird.

This thread reminds me of X-com and Battletech posts where someone rages about How they can miss at 95% 4 times in a row.

Three words, Random Number Generation, With the amount of numbers being produced across millions of games, there will always be bad streaks, and that's even at 95% even 99% isn't immune to bad streaks. Folks tend to think that 80% is 100%, it's not.

Easy way to check if OP got lucky or something else is going on:
20% failure 6 times in a row= 0.2^6
0.2^6=6.4e-5
6.4e-5*100=0.0064%

The likelihood of OP failing 6 times in a row at 80% (assuming he isn't exaggerating) is 0.0064% of a single percent. And multiple people report this happening repeatedly in their games, so thats 6.4e-5^3 which is even more unlikely.

So whats more likely; that all three of these guys got the 1 in a billion most unluckiest runs in all the history of all CK3 back to back, or that maybe there's a small bug in the hunting system?

Its a roll a dice game mechnic they added to the game.

Just because you got 80% change to get it well does not mean you get it. that 20% is still affective to make it not go well and you not get it.

That is simple math. I dont know what you folks on about?

if it was 99.99% and you dont get it then something is clearly wrong with the system.

I was successful, but hunting has far more important things than just legendary hunt. It is very positive for the player in almost every way, unless you die.
