Can you stop breaking my ironman saves every week or two?
Kind of defeats the purpose of playing if you wipe things every week or two. My games usually go for a month or two. Thank you. This shouldn't feel like playing on a rust server.

Games update man. Sometimes that breaks saves. CK is, if anything, pretty good about saves working after a big patch.

I'm with you ... I was so frustrated, that I'm still using 1.14.x version ... since I started with it.

Safest way to play this game. And it takes me way more than a month, as you can see. :)
Major updates don't happen every couple of weeks; that's some massive hyperbole. As for your issue, just roll back to the previous version to continue playing an old save. You are warned when a save is outdated: stop ignoring that warning and loading the save anyway.

Hyperbole you say? I bet you feel smart using such a big fancy word in a sentence. We've had three iron man save ruining patches in the past few weeks.
1. The update that broke having courtiers
2. The update that fixed that after two whole weeks (shouldn't have been released like that)
3. Then the one that dropped today

Are you trying to be intentionally ignorant or are you a disingenuous shill?

Maybe I should state... I don't want more than 1 iron man save ruining update but once every few months, where I plan to play on the most recent version, regardless of circumstances. That would require that they actually bug test their updates prior to dropping them, see item 1 above.

Games update, thats how reality works. Most of the time CK saves can carry on mostly fine. And finally why are you using ironman so heavily? It doesn't get you achievements now, you know that right? Ironman CK3 is literally just a bragging thing.

I use it to make my decisions permanent, despite BS RNG curve balls. Ultimately, imo, it makes for better games. Achievements mean 0 to me. No save-scumming. I do the same in Stellaris, Rimworld, etc. I know how reality works, but that you for reminding me it exists. Companies can try harder. It's pretty clear PDX doesn't mind inconveniencing their customers enjoyment of the game they bought if it means saving on quality assurance testing. That's also reality, and it's a choice they make. I wonder if they'd feel the same way if they had to refund subscriptions for time periods where game breaking bugs slip past their oh so watchful eye.

Them updating their game is the opposite of 'inconveniencing their customers'. It has negatively affected you, a single edge case user. You are not the broader playerbase. None of my games have been ruined by updates.

Tip: only major updates are likely to break Ironman saves. Like 1.15.X to 1.16.X won't be good, but 1.16.1 to 1.16.2 will.

The last such major update was 1.16, on April 28. The next one will be with Coronations, sometime in Q3. So a game started after April 28 should be still good to go. (Not accounting for bugs in the update, like the courtier thing, because that's a different issue - you would have had that issue even with a new game.)

And if you don't want to stop your current game, you can come back to the previous patch for as long as you want.

No I just start a new one. It did keep breaking the games I started, the court bug. THIS.. third one though.. also still broke my save game.. again... "after" they fixed the court bug last week.

I guess redefining what ruined means is a great way to argue it's not. My definition is cannot load, without issues, under the most update version of the software.

The reason they call the company Paradox is because actually playing their games paradoxically requires the game to be in between updates and content releases for long enough to actually complete a campaign.

Clownfisher failed to generate the free points.

Games do update. Just because someone says a word (like Hyperbole) to accurately describe your misbehavior does not mean it's a new word to them, but maybe it's a new word to you, since you're so fixated on the word instead of the entire message.

You really wanna feel smart, bub? Start by rolling back to prior save when the game updates and play your ironman in peace. That's what like, everyone does (except for the tiny vocal minority on the forums).

And really - for every post I see about "wah my save broke" I see like 20 replies "My save is fine bro because I did the GIT GUD thing and rolled back when I noticed the update".

So what you gonna do brother, when Update Mania runs wild on YOU!?

They can break it, once every couple months.. not thrice back to back to back in the span of 3 weeks. That's too much. I won't roll back to complete the save. I will start a new game and hope they are less incompetent in the future though.
bad news is.... it will continue through out the updates for chapter 4.....
it should take about more than a year to stabilize....

So you're saying it's too much to ask devs to ensure games don't break, and instead put the onus on us to go through hoops to play the game? Disingenuous shill indeed. I also have a bridge to sell you, which you can build yourself.

Hyperbole? Hell yes.

So you're saying when devs have a patch ready to fix something, they should have to reach out to everyone who's bought the game and ask for permission, and line up everyone for a magic moment? Disingenuous clownfishing indeed.
