really focus on building up your economy and military power, Francia might be stronger on paper but since you're on your own island and of the same religion as them, their ability to effectively invade you is very very limited.

Quickly getting Brit under my thumb so that, while I am fortifying my main duchy, I can support crusades ... and theres your dilemma .. If you get a chance on heading to jerusalem or antioch, would be a good opportunity to play that (after winning and playing the new character) and start forming up the Outremer (or whatever its called for western german peeps). IF you have not done that yet, its a great challenge.
IF I didn't crusade, I would switch up to conquering duchies outside brit, giving to family and granting independence. (to grow the dynasty)
