Secrets And Adventurers
How come every adventurer knows every little secret I have? Is that random or has anyone else experienced this?

I am usually loathe to give hooks, but the blackmailers also don't seem to want or be able to use those hooks for anything, so I have been accepting the blackmails so far.

Vassals are not reluctant to use their hooks to butt their way onto the council, as far as I know, but I don't know about adventurers.
I'm not sure what for, or even if, they use their hooks.

But my point is more like why are they so good at discovering secrets?
Having played a lot of adventurers, there's a proc that happens when you're travelling, where a bard will offer to reveal a random secret of the top liege. It seems to be a guaranteed reveal if the top liege actually has a secret to reveal. This proc fires constantly, so if the top liege has a secret they're gonna learn it. I've had like, 5 moron adventurers get in line to blackmail me for the same arbitrary secret within a week of ascension. The bigger your land, the more idiot adventurers wander through, the more times you get blackmailed. It's useful as an adventurer to hook the ERE or HRE into selling you a house, especially if you are doing 'Started from the bottom now we're ERE' run. But man is it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying if you are the liege. The only boon, other than the admini house decision, is the liege can't issue a direct arrest warrant for the moron adventurer, so that's why they do it. I think you can still throw their asses out, which is what I do, purely for spite. I can't recall if the blackmail doesn't block it or I just exploit it with same-day eviction as I see the blackmail proc, but I think it's the former.

Vassal hooks are a different beast. I avoid handing those out at all costs. I was only thinking about random ai ppl/Rulers.
If i already have the Murderer trait & my vassal tries to blackmail me for another murder,i tell em to go ahead & rat me out.

Once one person knows your secret, theres an Event that allows them to share it. As a player,i recall many times being asked if i wanna share one. Im sure the ai does it,too.
Dont keep secrets. as soon as a one of your kids have a secret, just expose it or someone will blackmail them. Someone blackmail you? just expose it...Yea, keeping secrets never work. Even if you were hunting and killed some nobody and covered it all up very well...someone will eventually find it. It is rather dumb stuff but, it's part of the intrigue game.

Some lifestyle perks work differently for landed and unlanded characters. Digging for Dirt allows Search for Secrets travel if you're an adventurer.
