I restarted the computer without effect.
Halas, the "bug report" is bugged for me and I cannot send the error message to the devs.

EDIT: Make sure that your antivirus software allows the game to edit the settings file. That was the reason for the crash in my case.

If you're experiencing crashing, then please post a thread along with your log files on our official bug support board[forum.paradoxplaza.com].

Unfortunately crash issues require logs to properly diagnose, and Steam doesn't provide an easy way to share these files.
