Coronations not allowed unless AI?

Title, I'm playing a new game, just got forced to be the HREmperor but Catholicism is in a "investiture controversy" phase, so it wont let me get coronated, which is already incredibly damming since that eats away at your legitimacy constantly with -2 a tick,
I thought this would be applied to everyone to spice things up but literally two seconds later the Hungarian king is getting coronated??

I don't know how to end this chapter other than waiting the 10 years for the next council to do its thing, but, 10 years without a coronation is actually quite tough when you're playing the fragile HRE.
Anyone know why the AI is able to get coronated or is this an oversight/bug ?

You can reform your rite or diverge slightly to allow cornoation without head of faith or realm preist. I believe its in the options for no anniotment required.

Due to it only causing a slight divergence, You won't get labeled as heretic (Pope cannot use crusade on you or excommunicate you) and you won't be target of holy war CB as your are not hostile or evil or other Christians. Pope will be temporarily annoyed, but as long you pay the pope off with a gift or seek induglences he won't excommunicate you.

Emperor coronations require the pope to do it.

King ones don't.

Could that be why?

Shoot I think you got it, sorry I overlooked that it was late my time lmao
Yeah I think they can send a representative or use the realm priest or something, but, when I hovered over the UI it said something like "the church wont" instead of just "the pope wont" so I didnt put it together.

Good works around, thanks for the tips, I hadnt really dabbled with the divergences yet so I'll keep this in the mind for the future. Thanks my dude
