Creating a rite is dumb
But not for the reason you probably think.

The AI can dynamically name and describe rites, but we as players seem to have to fill it all out manually.

Why can't I just press a "generate name and description automatically" button if the function is already in the game for the AI to use..?

Oh man, I fully agree. It would be such a huge quality of life change to just say "Hey game, i don't care about my faith's name. PLEASE JUST PICK WHATEVER" lol

Seriously though, anything the AI can come up with is probably better than what I can do. I'm awful at naming anything.
Which is strange since the game gives you automatic and possible titles elsewhere like when you create a champion. You can rename the position if you want but you get some automatic title upon creation.
As nice as it is to enter custom names, I shouldnt have to keep writing in Follower/Followers just because I cant think of a better option. A small list of shuffled names would be nice.
Glad I'm not alone. But we'll see if Paradox cares enough about the issue to do something about it. Like most of their DLC's, this one came out fairly broken, so my guess is they have other high-priority issues they need to deal with first.
hard agree!!! PARADOX PLEASE IMPLEMENT THIS!
I'm still trying to just create a rite in the first place. I went on four pilgrimages and won a crusade and I'm still not pious enough.

Is it supposed to cost 8200 piety as a baseline? That seems ridiculous to me.

Honestly your guess is as good as mine.

Feels like yet another instance of Paradox only listening to yes men that agree with all their decisions (however stupid they might be) pre-launch.

It is supposed to be very expensive. This was almost certainly a response to backlash after the dev stream in which the devs trivially adopted simony and cannibalism. 8200 piety isn't insurmountable though. In my most recent run I was getting over 10,000 piety every generation without even particularly trying for it. The big thing is that pilgrimages were nerfed so you need to diversify your piety sources.

Adding onto this, The purpose of the rites is to help encourage iterations and shifts of faith, instead of having players magically spawn religions.
Making a new religion from scratch should be for an established character, not a new spawn 10 years into the game after 4 pilgrimages.

though current feedback seems to imply shifting a current faith is overly easy
Ts would also be good for new cultures too. Or just more "special" culture names in general. Like, I have no idea wha to call ts culture, help me!
I don't disagree, but it's amazing that this is what people are upset about.

Oh no, I'm upset about A LOT of other things too.
For instance I just had my run ruined because of a bug that causes instant game over after you buy an estate. But this specific bug has been around for almost two years and Paradox has done nothing to fix it.

Yeah it's supposed to be expensive in order to penalize a strict adherence to one lifestyle and give you a reason to unlock perks along the Theologian tree in the learning lifestyle. Last I checked "Prophet" halves piety costs of reformation, but maybe the update changed it.

Yea Prophet doesn't give the discount anymore unless its there and not in the tooltip anymore.. But who honestly knows because piety cost in the UI is bugged half the time.. It can show it costs 5000 piety to change the rite but then the create button is grey out saying you're missing 4000 piety when you got 6000 piety banked... lol
