What's the point of this event? [Not important]
I think it's probably a curse of my high intrigue score, but I seem to be constantly catching cheating spouses serenading my family/knights/vassals under the window. This event does not seem to have any follow up as far as I can tell. It does not lead to gaining a lover secret or a hook on the cheater; it does not lead to gaining an imprison reason (although this may be due to my liberal custom religion). Just pure spam. It was entertaining the first time or two, especially as it include culture specific slanders, but now it's just white noise.

What am I missing?

I think theres just a hell of alot of cheating going on, the bigger you get the more this triggers.

Its like my save, every week I'm getting a pop up about someone fornicating and 90% of my wives will have been imprisoned within a month of getting married for cheating. And none have lustful.

Emperor 21, handsome trait, Marry a woman of 16, zealous, honest, shy, 100 opinion, divorced in a week because she slept with a 68 year old obese mayor with a hostile religion. Marry another, 2 weeks later shes slept with the local tramp whos had more birthdays than baths.
I think I see this event at least once a year, even with an average Intrigue.
I always just imprison whoever gets caught and immediately ransom them its like free income. I hate when my spouse cheats because I am always worried it will mess up my succession .

I don't think he's talking about that event. I think he's talking about the one where someone is literally outside a window shouting the name of their seduction target.

It inflicts a negative opinion modifier on the "guilty" party, but it isn't a.... "consummation" of a seduction attempt, so there's no associated crime, which is why OP doesn't see the point of the event.
Only marry asexual or homosexual women. They don't commit paternity fraud.
Pretty generally, this happens when you're Paranoid. Essentially your character has difficulty trusting their spouse's fidelity because they see a plot in every shadow.
I've never seen this event refer to your spouse. It's always people that don't really matter.
What Finarfin said. It's either younger family members or courtiers that get adulterous admirers. Apparently one of my knights is really a stud since he triggered the same event ("A Snake at Court") during the reign of three different emperors. He's now in his sixties and still getting people coming to his window...

There are various factors to attractiveness, and age actually isn't one of them I don't think. If your knight is Brave, Strong, and Hale or something, right there he's pretty much through the roof on attractiveness. That sets aside things like temporary bonuses from events, which you can see off to the right of his traits.

Age is a factor. It's used to assess fertility for things like marriage offers, but there's also a cap on attraction opinion modifiers. IIRC, the vanilla cap is 50 year sold for women, and 65 for men.

Now I can actually find the event, and answer your question. Tried yesterday with a half-remembered snippet of text from the event, but to no avail.

The event is seduction_outcome.3901, which is the notification event for the liege when a seduction scheme not only fails, but the one attempting it blows their cover/fails scheme secrecy. It's triggered by seduce_outcome.2900, which is the event for the scheme attempter getting informed that they have critically failed. Order of operations: scheme actor fails, triggering 2900, which triggers 3901 for liege, who then sees A TROLL IN THE DUNGEON! (Thought you ought to know.)

If you want to mod it out, you'd need to change at least one of those events. My recommendation would be to change 3901 to a hidden event that triggers a message. This way, you still learn about the infidelity, but the game doesn't get paused to do so. There's a mod, Less Intrusive Spymaster, that does something similar, if you want an idea of how to specifically script this.

If you want to be lazy about it, though, you could just comment out the trigger_event call in 2900. Those lines, in the file seduce_scheme_outcome_events.txt, are 1636-1638.

I'm at the point of the game where almost all my dynasty members are beautiful-herculean-fecund-geniuses, so this may explain why I'm spammed with these events.

I did not see any trolls in any dungeons. My custom religion is so permissive (with both male and female adultery accepted), I'm actually a bit confused why I was able to imprison my adulterous spouse. But my religion may explain why 3901 never had any follow ups, despite the call for guards. It seems to me "A Snake at Court" should not trigger at all in case of a religion which accepts both male and female adultery (as well as the event what-if-my-child-is-not-mine (Forgot its name)).
I have zero experience with moding events out.

RE imprisonment reason: I think your own spouse cheating on you uses a separate imprisonment reason, which might always be a crime unless the faith has the tenet Polyamory. Don't quote me on that, though, I've barely looked at the way crime works and I don't think I've ever been given an imprisonment reason when playing a lewd faith.

RE follow-up events: I wasn't clear enough. There is no follow-up. The order of operations I described is the complete chain, which is why I recommend switching the full event to a notification. Notifying the liege that adultery occurred within their realm is the sole purpose of the event.

RE modding experience: that's why I pointed to a specific mod that does something similar to use as a template, silly! If you meant you have no modding experience, period, then I'd recommend the same guide I used to get started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mez71ykJGOs
