Do whatever is fun. This game is trivially easy as it is, there's no need to powergame every decision. For the record, Mendicant Preachers is an excellent tenet. Ecclesiarchy and Communal Identity are less impressive.
the game is easy, everyone says that, but it's tremendously difficult for me... EU4 is infinitely easier for me (as strange as it sounds xD)
- mendicant preachers (good for large, expansionist realms)
- esotericism (convert piety to learning lifestyle points once every few years + nice virtue)
- astrology (random lifestyle bponus once per decade)
- communion is good for excommunication (spiritual HoF) and indulgencies (temporal HoF)
- legalism (good for elective monarchies)
- pursuit of power (conquest CB and invasion CB)
Personally, I wouldn't recommend communal identity because the vast majority of counties you're going to convert will not be your culture, and they're very unlikely to flip to it. Ecclesiarchy is quite good in my opinion and will help keep your fervor high, thus speeding up conversions and preventing heresies.
