disappearing claims and shafted by kingdoms in the HRE

I am trying to speedrun a Habsburg Austrian empire(for fun not for the achievement) but I keep getting screwed over by either
A. I take over Bar and Lothringen as springboard dutchies and end up getting screwed over by the kingdom of Lothringen being granted to a random duke, or worse, I end up becoming a vassal because a random Provencian forms the kingdom of Arles blocking me from being direct vassal to the Kaiser
B. I marry the Babenberg's daughter but somehow my son doesn't get a claim ducal Austria after his grandfather dies despite his mother is supposed to have a pressed claim
how do I avoid both? I want to avoid just spending a bunch of time and money to cheese it by spamming fabricated claims since it feels like cheating to claim something hundreds of KMs away from my holdings

Not sure on your first one but is the mother also dead in the second case? Iirc she'll get the claim first (as a pressed claim) which can't be pressed against a male ruler, then when she dies her son gets the claim (as an unpressed claim, so he has to at least try and press it or it won't pass on to his kids)

yes she did, after I made the post I started thinking about it and came to that conclusion.
