How to get rid of Kingdom rank and go back to duchy level?
Was playing a chilly game in Iceland as a Duke until I inherit the Kingdom of England unintentional through marriage. For roleplaying reasons I later want to form an Icelandic Kingdom, but since I`m a king now, I cant form my custom kingdom anymore and only can conquer existing titles.

So whats the best way to get rid of the title and rank?

My stupid vassals only form factions for lower authority or independence, but never for title, even if they have claim to the throne.

Destroy the title. Or if you want nothing to do with England, just grant the title to someone else. Although I believe you need to hold at least one other kingdom before you can do that, as you cannot give away your primary title.

Give England an elective succesion type and lose.

The problem is i only can do this if i have another title, so i had to conquer a new title, like the kingdom of Wales for example. But then i am Wales or some other kingdom, and still cant form a new custom kingdom title.

If I`m lose the vote do I continue to play as my son as a duke or do I continue play as the winner of the vote? Asking because all vassals are of my dynasty

You would continue playing as your son as a Duke but you will also be a vassal to the new King.

Have done it now, but its the scandinavian election, where me and the other voters only can choose between close relatives of me. Luckily my wife died, so i could marry matrilineal and get a wrong dynasty son for vote. Hope that this will fix it (but they still dont vote for him because he is not from england :steamfacepalm:)

This sounds extremely complex. Probably better to just start a new game! Otherwise I guess you're attempting to lose your king title so you can form an independence faction, break away, and then form a new kingdom, keeping in mind you need something like 60 counties to do it, no?

60 counties OR 3 duchies so its not that hard. The thing i dont want to start is because i get so many dynasty legacies and i dont want to start to get my family to some thrones to get enough renown.

Why you can´t choose in this game to retire or accept demands of rebells, like in eu4, even if they are not strong enough to start war.

Ah, yeah, you're right. I had forgotten the bar was so low for creating a kingdom. Then again, some of the de jure kingdoms in the game are pretty tiny.
