Regent system is garbage

Finally got around to trying out the mechanic as a regent and it's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥ to the point of broken. been a month and they still haven't fixed it either.

My liege never apparently travels been 10 years and never been placed in charge while he travels lol. Can't host grand weddings anymore making me fail them because I'm apparently busy in an activity, which I found out being a regent is the trigger for that apparently !?

Can't go on a pilgrimage because regent isn't allowed to leave the realm and no catholic pilgrim spots in France lmao.

Then to top it off, I think ok ♥♥♥♥ this I'm a take my bag and go home.....

Nope no option to withdraw from being a regent whereas a council member you can leave the position. You're stuck until apparently you piss your liege off enough that they appoint someone else or possibly when he dies??

Really makes the regent mechanic feel like half baked and unfinished rushed content.

I never tried playing as the regent, I am pretty sure you must try to grab power when your league is away. If you don't have any land you can't move around in the world, you must have land to move around in the world.

I mean if you're busy ruling your liege's realm, you don't exactly have time to plan a grand wedding. We can't do it all at the same time.

Do you not understand I'm not only just not allowed to do pilgrimages or grand weddings. Fine it sucks to give that up but my problem is more than just that.

I can't quit as regent if it doesn't benefit me anymore and to top it off I don't get any benefit of ruling as regent the mechanic straight isn't working when my liege travels no regent is being put in place so I can't even tip the scale of power so I'm stuck in a broken mechanic.

Arguably this should change, but there's also a strong argument that it shouldn't.

We're locked out of things: Controlling our liege's realm without taking a single plot of land is extremely powerful. As many have observed, it's rather "OP" to be regent because you get all the benefits of being a king/emperor without any of the drawbacks. But the big one...

We can't quit: This is logical because we don't designate the regent, the king does. Designated regent isn't like marshal where it's an advisory role. Designated regent is "This is the one person I trust the most to rule the realm in my stead." It'd be kinda like saying, "Well I know I said I wanted to be regional manager but now that I've changed all the rules to benefit the little guy, I wanna go back to being the little guy now." No company would let that pass. You wanted an important job, you have an important job, and this is your job now.

If your liege travels within their realm, the regent system doesn't kick in as your liege is still considered to be in charge. As far as the rest, yes, Paradox does have a number of kinks to work out. Unfortunately their attention is divided with the Wards & Wardens DLC set to release August 22nd so your best chance of getting it addressed sooner is to keep bringing it up in Paradox's official bug forums.
