Recommend me some fun starts!
Can anyone recommend me some fun characters to use? I'd like to accumulate a little list to go try out with maybe a simple guess on the 'difficulty'. Perhaps, ones that really utilize all the games features? If possible try to point out the location specifically since I'm not exactly 'fluent' with all the country names.

Sadly, mainly its the ones in the achievements section or the recommended starting characters. The game needs more unique characters visually, locked stats, with light story.

I enjoy Brittany in the 1066 start... but I feel like probably alot of people do. I enjoy Siemowit of Greater Poland in 867 start as well Haraldr Fairhair of Vestfold in 867.

  • Petty King Murchad of Munster - Ireland 1066,[ck3.paradoxwikis.com] that's where the tutorial takes place, a very interesting start you are fairly isolated surrounded by other small rulers, with a bigger threat in the East. It used to be where everyone started back in CK2, that's why they made the tutorial here this time around.

  • King Alfonso VI -Leon (Spain) 1066,[ck3.paradoxwikis.com] It used to be the tutorial in CK2, so the opposite of now, family being the other small rulers around you with the Muslim threat in the South, this is probably the most "versatile" start in terms of approach, using either Diplomacy, Intrigue or military power are all entirely viable ways.

  • Duchess Matilda di Canossa -Tuscany (Italy, HRE) 1066,[ck3.paradoxwikis.com] it used to be one of the fan's favourites before, has a very strong start to reflect the influence she had, it starts in the HRE so there are multiple available goals and ways to proceed.

  • Björn Ironside -Svitjod (Norway) 867,[ck3.paradoxwikis.com] Ragnar Lothbrok's first son, a very fun start if you want to try Tribals Pagans, much more fighting oriented but there are different ways to unite Scandinavia while Raiding around.

Edit: formatting.

Prince Adelchis in South Italia (Benevento)
867 start

Small and independant, but not too weak either
Great location with plenty of opportunities
Some weaklings around, but also close to the big bosses
The muslim world and whole Africa just south

Siemowit Pyast in 867, Greater Poland. Purely a military start with your unique horsemen having the best pursuit stat in the game, so enemy stacks run away from you only having 3 people or so left.
Haesteinn and Halfdan are both fun 867 starts. You're Feudal but also Unreformed Asatru and start with a bunch of event troops, so you can raid, conquer your neighbors, or even set sail halfway around the world to take over some random Indian kingdom and make Viking Hindus, or reclaim the Holy Land (but for Odin) if you want.

In the 867 start, there's Prince Vladimir, Duke of Vidin and son of the King of Bulgaria. He's a Tengri while his dad is Orthodox. You can try to inherit the kingdom and turn Bulgaria Tengri again.

Lord Maredudd ap Gruffydd of Perfeddwlad 1066 - 13yo Count in Wales who has claims on all 3 Duchies in Wales and is also 3rd in line to inherit the Duchies of Mercia, Lancaster, Northumbria, and Deira in England.

The count of Gosslar. The one holding alone can net you 8g/m in 867 and it only skyrockets with time. by 1200 I had over 20 on that one settlement alone. Was really cool to do a small but tall and elite kingdom. I slowly conquered the north and made my own empire.

inside the HRE, inside the duchy of Laustitz, in the county of brene. Count Otger's family crest is the same crest on the cover art king. it's an interesting start because your twin brother was murdered as an infant by the count above you. you can RP as the cover art guy and become a Crusader King 3(tm)

Count Werner of Aargau in the HRE. he's a habsburg

I like Prince Dox in 867, the duke of transyvannia

I am enjoying my run in Mongolia...I started as a count under the khergit khanate and took that over and declared myself emperor of all.

Nice list man (and formatting!) haha I plan to check these out today and thank you everyone else for your input I'm going to add those as well. Being that i've just been reading about Ragnar Lockbrok and was learning about his sons that sounds like a really fun start.

In 1066, Herbert of Vermandois is the last surviving landed Karling, with one meager count title in Northern France. Kinda interesting to see how fast you can restore the glory of house Karling and prevent it from dying out.

In remember this in CK2, you could actually start in 1080, where the last surviving Karling was the daughter of this guy, so you actually had to first get her into a matrilineal marriage to make the House survive.

I've just been playing Alfred over and over again. Help.

There is also a Habsburg in the HRE in the 1066 start, very very challenging. 1 county count with a military focus. You start with under 300 levies I believe
