Does you spouse need to be your lover in order to make children?
I just had my wife betray me with her brother :/ was it because she wasnt making love with my character? Do I need to use the seduce scheme in order to make babies?

No - but it helps

Generally you just get children passively, but it is recommended that you take the time sway, seduce or better yet romance your spouse unless you want her to cheat on you

All these guys on here complaining that the random woman they shipped in from the other side of the world because they wanted an alliance with her father and then proceeded to never interact with for like five years went out and cheated on them are probably real catches IRL. People should remember that these are arranged marriages and if they want a spouse who is loyal they have to invest a little time in the relationship. Just like real life. If you build a relationship with your spouse, it is very unlikely that they will cheat unless you get caught cheating first

yeah that makes sense. it just struck me as odd that I have to use a scheme in order to make my wife love me instead of using it to sway it the realm priest or a vassal

Yeah, but it's actually pretty logical if you think about it. 80% of the time, the first time your spouse met you was probably when they arrived at your court. In fact, the modern traditions of bridal veils and not seeing the bride before the wedding stems from these types of politically arranged marriages. They were originally ways to ensure the groom, who from the bride's family's perspective was hopefully wealthier and more powerful and had probably never seen the bride in his life, would find it difficult to back out of the wedding if he didn't find the bride to be attractive. He would have no idea what she looked like until he was standing in front of a religious figure having just sworn before divinity to marry the bride. Then he'd get to lift her veil and see her face for the first time and he'd have strong social and religious inducements to honor those vows.

Everyone who is upset at how frequent infidelity is in the game should remember that, literally the only things holding 90% of the marriages in the game world together are social and religious pressure. The spouses don't know each other, they probably don't even like each other and if handsome duke whatshisface shows up to court one day and starts flinging woo, well that's got to be real tempting if you are in a loveless political marriage to a virtual stranger that probably came about because your dad wanted someone to back him up when he tried to take over some middle of nowhere barony.

So, as a player, it behooves you to take a little time to make sure your spouse at least likes you. It's not like weddings today where you dated for a while and lived together and had lots of sex, maybe adopted a puppy together and now you want to settle down and lower your taxes by filing jointly and you are pretty sure you can stand the sight of eachother. Your new spouse has no idea who you are

Becareful about getting a souimate and lover from your wife. Sometimes you pop out too many sons and your empire can and might fall apart when you have too many heirs.
