Irish ruler unites Britannia as "Alba"?
The empire is called "Alba" for some reason which is gaelic for Scotland, not Ireland or anything else like Britannia... in fact Scotland is the last place I've taken and still exists separately as a Kingdom, what gives? No Eire, or was it a bug?

Edit: You know what... I bet it's because early Scottish characters have the Gaelic culture, and the game lumped Scottish/Irish Gaelic together. Very strange things going on with it

Alba (English: /ˈælbə/) is the Scottish Gaelic name (pronounced [ˈal̪ˠapə]) for Scotland. It is cognate with the Irish term Alba (gen. Alban, dat. Albain) and the Manx term Nalbin, the two other Goidelic Insular Celtic languages, as well as contemporary words used in Cornish (Alban) and Welsh (Yr Alban), both of which are Brythonic Insular Celtic languages. (The third surviving Brythonic language, Breton, instead uses Bro-Skos, meaning 'country of the Scots'.) In the past these terms were names for Great Britain as a whole, related to the Brythonic name Albion.

I, too, saw the Kingdom of Scotland turn into Alba for some reason, but when I finished conquering it I gained the ability to create the Kingdom of Scotland.

You probably created an empire through the decision tab instead of creating the already existing De Jure empire that is Britannia.
As you had Alba as your primary title it made the "Empire of Alba" instead of Britannia

Nope, I made it through the de jure title menus and I did not hold the kingdom of Scotland at all

Check your ruler's culture.

I had a game like that in CK2. The name of the empire kept flipping between "Scotland" and "Alba", depending on the ruler's culture.

Alba is still not the Irish word for GB, that also means Scotland for them as far as I know

Also, if you unite Britannia (called Alba under an Irish culture) under a Scots culture character, it turns back to Britannia... what the ♥♥♥♥

hmmm well apparently if your Irish it flips britannia to Alba.
It most likely because Irish and Gaelic are both in the Goidelic culture group.

I know being Pictish switches it to Pictavia
And being others in the Brythonic group just make it Britannia.

It's Britannia flipping, not Scotland.
