Obese trait/modifier
Is there a way to remove this via console commands or perhaps editing the save game? Can't seem to get rid of it ingame.

You should have a minor decison available called "Lose Weight."

Oh there's a decision. You can have it for 50 years without results, while taking a second penalty on top of the obese trait. Might be a bug.

I play on ironman so i can't test, but it's a modifier, so I would imagine something like remove_character_modifier obese.

If you turn debug mode on, right click on the character, scroll down to debug interactions (purple box), there is an option to add or remove weight from a character

It doesn't work though. Did this with a character and waited a few years and doesn't work.

Tried this as well, Doesn't remove the modifier/trait no matter how much I choose remove weight

Yeah the "lose weight" decision is bugged, it does not actually remove the obese condition ever, no matter if you try and lose weight for 40 years.

Did you try remove_character_modifier obese ?

The remove weight might be usefull to make you look not obese once the modifier is gone.

Tried it. It only says unknown command on the console

Strange, it's in the list, maybe this then :

effect remove_character_modifier obese

Thanks for the tips. Seems to be executing a non-existent script (Nothing happens). Seems that the only way to remove it for now is the clear_character_modifiers command.

Can't find a way to specifically remove the obese modifier otherwise

Patch to fix the lose weight not working would be nice:)

So it seems a lot of people don't understand how the game works. The avatars work based on sliders, and the weight slider has been forced up by the trait. Removing the trait, doesn't magically make the game remember where the slider was at before. This is a problem with the game. The weight REMOVAL has worked for me when my character was born chunky, but hadn't gotten the obese trait. Removing the trait, should make the lower weight action work, but I'm unsure.

This is an easy fix, assuming you can get rid of the trait. Using -debug_mode for launch options, you can open up the console and open a whole character editor, which reveals some insight into how avatars are made. I'd recommend watching a video guide on how to make your own character, since it'll reveal how you can find your character in the save file. Which you can then load up in the character maker, and then adjust the weight slider down.

I don't think how the character looks is what concern people about the obese trait. Like you said, you can be chunky without the trait, whatever. But having the trait obese + losing weight ( which doesn't do anything it seems ) has an impact on the health.

I did the remove weight command a few times and let my character stay under their target weight for a year or two and the obese condition went away.

It is:

remove_character_modifier = obese_modifier

not

remove_character_modifier = obese
