What is happening to grandsons/grandaughters ?!!
------
TLDR
So after 100+ years of reign, my Arrange Marriage panel is literally full of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who aren't living in my court.

I'm actually not sure they are regularly getting married by the AI but since I'm not going to micro manage them all and since I can't filter them out because they mostly belong to different dynasties, I wonder what can be done,

------
EDITED : SOLVED
Descendants not resident at your court can be removed from the Arrange Marriage list (via character_interactions editing).

I've never found Arrange Marriage to be particularly useful. Use the character finder to locate members of your dynasty who are unmarried. I think that's what you are looking for. You can even save this setting.

Actually the issue I was complaining about is not about seeking unmarried grandkids..you can always open up your dynasty screen for that, but the fact that those hundreds of grandkids appearing in my Arrange Marriage panel without efficient ways to filter them out, makes my game experience frustrating.

And we ALL need to use Arrange Marriage if your goal is to marry off a courtisan with somebody that you've targeted with Find Char or in portraits..unless you can use Find Spouse clearly..but that DOESN'T work with grandkids when they're not at my court.

What i read is all your complaint.
1. What u want to do?
2. What u can’t do?
3. What the end result u want to see?

This makes it even less clear what you want to do.

Are you looking to marry off your grandkids or not? If not, what are you trying to do?

Because if you are trying to marry off people in your court, you can't use arrange marriage unless you want them marrying someone else in your court.

1. Not everyone wants to marry everyone. They are not interested in you unless they are attracted to you or something you have.

2. Im not sure I understand. And I have not played in a while. But it sounds like either you just need someone in your court to find them a spouse, or its not working because they dont have custody of them.

3. People do not automatically get married. They did not all get married historically and its more realistic that they dont in random games. It was common for royalty to have relationships that were not public because in the eye of the people they tried to marry people of renown that the people approve of.

Manually marrying off hundreds of granchildren most of whom aren't even in my dinasty..why should I take care of them ? I don't even want to see them in my Arrange Marriage panel. I want to filter them away but I can't.

But MOSTLY I would like these grandchildren to be EFFECTIVELY married off by the AI (=other Lieges) since they live in other courts. Should noneof these things be possible then PDOX (or some modders maybe) could consider setting up a flag "Allow Marriage" on them, like it happens with my landed sons.

Are your playthroughs long enough to see this ? Is there a workaround that you know (including modding) ? cheers

Thank you all, I think I have found out how to exclude Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren not at court from the Arrange Marriage list, working on the character_interactions file.

In the Marry Off section, the populate-list methods are like
every_child = {
-- every_child = {
----every_child = {
so they are including on purpose 3 levels of decendancy in the list, even if they aren't at my court. I'm removing those additional levels right now. Let's see what happens.

Solved. As mentioned, editing the character_interaction files is the way to purge all those grandchildren not resident at my court from the arrange list.
More difficult to explain..or to understand probably than doing it.
