struggling with mods and steam auto update....
everytime I see steam going "updating workshop", my heart sank... and i pray "pls don't break my save game". seriously it hard to play a long campaign when you cannot lock down the mod version until you finish your playthur....

I mean you can go offline mode while mid playthrough. You can ofc restrict Steam to use your network adaptor or other forms of access restriction but afaik if you are in offline mode, Steam wont update anything since it will be restricted to access your network. Once you done, you turn online mode again and Steam should autoupdate everything again.

There also might be specific service responsible for updating various Steam componets, so if it exists and you are able to identify it, you might restrict just this service but i think Steam handls it together in one bundle but not sure, you would need to ask someone from Steam support.

ya but we don't just play 1 game. it is silly to disable the entire steam from going online just for one game. steam need to be less stupid. why do they not have an option to just "NOT UPDATE"? :v

do people migrant to paradox mod? is paradox mod better than using steam workshop? is it my mistake to use steam workshop? any paradox mod user have an opinion to share?

You can copy workshop mods to the local folder used for non-steam mods.

Paradox's mod system is not great from what I have heard, and prone to troll reports taking mods down.

Sure but you asked for solution - here it is, or you can copy the files from workshop folder as suggested above, i think people figured this out in 2020 already. if you wanna be mad about it you can ofc but thats probably the only thing you can do about it since this is forum for issues with the game, not Steam.

im doubtful we'll get another update this year if that puts your mind at ease at all. They go on their winter holidays soon, and already got hotfixes to the last dlc out due to releasing it earlier. It might not be until mid jan - feb
