How to know if achievements are enabled?

I know the icon is there, but I'm not sure if it isn't bugged and every time I go check in the character switch menu it's already black-out? Is it blacked out because *if* I change character achievements will become disabled or have they already been? For context I am using a lot of mods that change game mechanics significantly (total plague removal, more events, religions, cultures and even AEP).

Well, you could hit ESC and down at bottoms "achievements" and it'll tell you whats locked out, whats obtained and whats open.

Mods shouldn't disable achievements. Haven't for quite a while now.

Having edit/debug enabled, starting custom out of spec limits, putting game rules settings where it tells you it disables achievements, or switching active characters with the button WILL disable achievements.

Some achievements are just plain onery and difficult to get to fire... even when you have met the requirement(s).

You can even run cheat mods and get achievements.
