Becoming a noble family in Byzantium
Starting as a count in Byzantium Empire, how does one become a noble family and own an estate? There don't seem to be any decision to petitions to the emperor to grant the ability to construct one.

If you are starting in Byz it should more or less just do it automatically, all vassals are administrative and just by being administrative are nobles and should have their respective estates

You only become a noble family when you have a Theme (Duchy). Means you need to spend influence to gain a title.
An 'easier' way is to be a indepent count (Like Napoli), swear fealty, get a duchy (conquer), change to administartive government and of you go: You're a noble family)

That run lasted only 7 years after a plague hit my capital county via sea so i never got to form a duchy or receive a new higher title. I will say it is odd considering other random landless families rise to become noble families in the empire.
