Transition from adventurer to landed
Another strange aspect of RtP. I had a 2000+ military force as an adventurer, but as soon as I was granted land, I had to disband most of those as the expense was extreme. So from a cost free 2000 man army to requiring maintenance.

balancing choice. but still landless players are currently overloaded on MAA and gold wise^^

yeah if you do a overkill with maa from adventurer to landed you better find a place-kingdom that has a good income , myself had 8x600 maa with elephants and special maa and they set me back 50gold even with my 50% maa cost reduction , so had to balance that with disbanding-making the maa smaller and some of the special maa just crushes the english-europe ones in stats

Your wandering troops have now settled down to help establish your land. You gave them land to plow etc etc so now instead of having basically a band of mercenaries where you all get a cut of the take you have the perks and responsibilities of a lord.

Think of it this way.
2000 single soldiers with no lands, no responsibilities, no bills besides keep food in your belly and your sword sharp.
VS
2000 Married men with families and homes, taxes to pay, fields to plow, workers to hire and your not out there doing missions involving all your troops now its you ruling the land trying to handle your business and they are trying to handle their business

well, he was granted a land.. meaning there must be some sort of skilled worker before hand like farmer, blacksmith etc before you took over. Also, your soldier wouldn't suddenly lost their fighting skill just because they admitted to farming. This is more of balancing issue than "roleplaying" issue imo.

Its a design flaw that now unlanded characters can maintain better armies than even emperors.

at least if you become a great conqueror you get a huge reduction the upkeep for your maa, but you can also save up thousands just to keep your MAA going for a while and upgrade your new holdings when you get some land

Honestly I've been taking this as the bulk of your mercenaries leaving to continue being mercenaries. They go where the work is, as the opportunities for consistent plunder are diminished now that you're a landed lord and can't just roam the world from job to job.
