Landless (Raider)
Wondering if as a landless if one could build up their own troops and use the raid army stance for different provinces? I tried it last night and only seems you can just take contracts.

Almost using the Norse raiding armies but as a landless.

Thank you.

No, landless characters cannot raid by design.

I feel like we will get a nomad in a DLC, that will cover being a full on raider/bandit type adventurer.

It would have to be different in design to the very standard landless play.

It feels a bit weird that you can't raid when you got so many troops.

If you want to raid for money there is no need as you can make a fortune via contracts as you get better levelled.

Saying we will get a DLC for a DLC that has just come out is so wild lmao

^^^^

this is why. Adventurers are slow going but they can make so much cash from contracts, especially mercenary work. I did 50 years as an adventuring merc adventurer and I had so many bonuses to my MAA and Knights, I was just destroying everything from joining contract wars and earning so much. I also put so many rulers in debt ... so there's that too

Then why are there raiding contracts? ...which of course you can't fulfil, because you can't raid.

As far as I know, you can only raid estates, villas from other settles down landless charcters, when you are in an admin gouverment. Thats then a political scheme, not a real raid, as it uses the new scheme mechanic.

The devs decided against raiding, because you could simply exploit it, with taking your camp constantly with you.
How should the AI stop you? How should it besiege you, to get your money back? a one day instant win siege for the ai, where they torn down the few palisades you might have build?

But you can play as a bandit and take from the rich, to give.... well to yourself. Via Schemes contracts you can sell fake artefacts of faith, "guard" trade roads, so travels dont have an unfortunate accident, etc.

Raid for Captives contract. It seems bugged. You enter into a raid conflict but can't raid. Then another option pops up in your notifications suggesting you may wish to declare war to fulfil the contract. I don't take them now, since I can't complete them.

Seems weird since i'm pretty sure most vikings were mercenaries or low-level warriors in a landed monarch's court irl

In game mechanic it isn't raiding. You declare war to the raiding target.

As Norse you'll want a dynasty legacy, don't quote me on this but I believe it's the 4th one on the pillaging(?) one called making a killing(?).

As landless you'll just join others wars and attack the opposite side earning, I believe, 4 gold per 100 kills.

Even as landed I consider that legacy as crucial for every playthrough I do.

Jea its pretty OP
if you complete the Legacy you get
- More Prisoners in sieges
- Sieges are faster
- Money per/x kills
- More gold and some Prestige ransoming
- More Prestige after winning battles

Its basically a Prestige and money Printer + the enhanced Prisoner chance makes you win a lot of Wars due valueable hostages
We need a landless raider mod
