being a landless is OP
You dont pay for your army, and getting food is too easy. You can literally take over an kingdom/empire alone not far from the start.

Plus you dont pay for assigning roles in your "court".

Quiet, you'll make them get the nerf bat out.

When they explained the mechanic, they said it would be easier to brute force your way into some land however its the "ruling" afterwards that is difficult. I'd imagine you'd have an easier time if you went the diplomatic route or even the legitamist route as landless.

Im currently testing it out. Gathering a list of patrons, befriending a few, getting some key marriages. Taking time to build wealth so that i can afford feudal rule. Plays slow but is rewarding in it's own right

We had the bat out shortly after launch, we're just deciding how hard we need to swing it.

Personally took a contract from the Jarl of jorvik to help quell some peasants. Sided with the peasants then find myself leading a peasant rebellion that I end up winning as Jorvik was fighting against Alba, Munster and Mercia at the same time.

This honestly sounds EXACTLY how the career progress of a landless person should go. So the question is only how difficult should it be.

I took over barcelonia duchy and regret it. You cannot maintain your large retuine and I had to deal with a lot of angry vassals. its not really op just intentionally imo makes u strong to have the freedom to choose where u settle, it gets hard once u settle which makes sense.

ur a foreigner with different culture group n language etc. and now have to rely on taxes not contracts.
It does give the player the freedom to do wacky things like an english man ruling in africa lmao which I think was the intention here

thats why i said the problem is not to nerf landless but to buff people with lands, i feel like they make very little money.
