Im currently testing it out. Gathering a list of patrons, befriending a few, getting some key marriages. Taking time to build wealth so that i can afford feudal rule. Plays slow but is rewarding in it's own right
Personally took a contract from the Jarl of jorvik to help quell some peasants. Sided with the peasants then find myself leading a peasant rebellion that I end up winning as Jorvik was fighting against Alba, Munster and Mercia at the same time.
This honestly sounds EXACTLY how the career progress of a landless person should go. So the question is only how difficult should it be.

It does give the player the freedom to do wacky things like an english man ruling in africa lmao which I think was the intention here
